Top 16 Amazing Websites With Free Images

Why should we follow patterns and make a "Top 10" list? Here at PixTeller, we do common things in a different way. So let's deepen our idea of the design industry and how we can understand its necessity in our lives.

We all know that the most natural ways to express our thoughts and feelings are through words and gestures. But sometimes it's easier to get creative and draw or write them down, isn't it? And you can do that with our photo editor!

Choose your favorite photos, then easily upload them on our platform and start designing amazing graphics or make marvelous animated gifs. You can use them in any scope you want, whether personal or business, without paying money to OCK photo market, which is owned by professional companies like Shutterstock and 123RF, who can charge $20 or more for a single photo. What you must know is that not necessarily all the pictures you find when browsing the Internet are free for you to use. Also, you may read about this few tips before you choose a photo.

If you're looking for photos to use for a design or video animation and want to keep yourself out of copyright restrictions, you need to locate websites that explicitly define the copyright license for each of their images. There are two types of license you're likely to find on most of the websites:

  • 1. Creative Commons zero (CC0) - you can use the photos in any scope you what without any attribution.

  • 2. Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) - allows you to distribute and re-use the materials, as long as you follow the licence condition. One condition is attribution, which means that you have to make sure that the original author is appropriately credited.

Nowadays, most of the current licenses require attribution of the original author (the BY component), which actually consists in citing the author's name, the work's title if any, the specific CC licence of the work and mention if this is a derivative work or adaptation. And even though you can find free stock photos, most of them have low resolution, watermark, are blurry or at best, uninspired.
